The University Medical Center in Groningen (UMCG) and MAD Multimedia have developed the “Dried Blood Spor app”. The blood sampled by a patient at home can be used to determine drug concentrations in the blood. First the patient takes a photo of the blood spot, loads the photo in the app and then the app tells if the spot is of sufficient quality. The intention is that the app ensures fewer bad spots and therefore more blood levels that are available on time.

This was officially published in “Science Discoveries” in September 2019. You can read the full English article here. article here. The convenience of not having to go to the hospital anymore and experiencing less pain is very pleasant for the patients.

The App has been used in the UMCG since 2016. In particular, transplant patients use the app a lot for monitoring their kidney function and blood levels. More information can be found in an article on the website of the UMCG. You can read the article here.

We are proud that we have been able to participate in this great project!
